Old Mids thwarted in hunt for victory

Match Abandoned

Old Mid-Whitgiftians' search for a first league win continues after rain forced the abandonment of their clash with Old Wimbledonians on Saturday.

The outcome was particularly frustrating for Mids who had bowled themselves into a strong position after dismissing their newly promoted opponents for 121.

In an explosive start to the match, Paul Gardner left the visitors' top order in disarray as he reduced them to 2-3 in favourable conditions for the seam bowlers.

After Gillogly was caught off the first ball of the match, Gardner trapped Moore LBW three balls later and then bowled Kawan.

Tony Brugnoli collected four wickets as the visitors collapsed to 88-9 before Nayak and Collin salvaged some pride with a valuable stand of 33.
