POLICE are hunting a man who tried to abduct two nine-year-olds from an East Yorkshire school.

The girls were approached outside Howden Junior School by the man, who was driving a white van, at about 10.30am yesterday.

"He asked them if they wanted some sweets, and then asked if they wanted to go in the van with him as school was bad," said a police spokeswoman.

The girls ran into school and he drove off at high speed.

He is described as being in his late 20s or early 30s with curly, dark brown hair. He was wearing a light blue shirt and spoke with a local accent.

His van is thought to have tinted glass in the driver's and passenger's windows.

Anybody who has information is asked to contact Goole police on 01405 721013.
