ANdrew Milner blitzed his way to another high score as Burythorpe reached 190 for 9 against Hemingbrough in the first division of the Horwath Pulleyn Heselton York Vale League.

He held the innings together as it wobbled at 98 for 5 as bowler Andy Rowley took command, deserving much better than his eventual haul of 5 for 54. Milner let fly however as he accumulated 89, which included eight sixes and three fours.

Hemingbrough struggled in the gloom losing their first four wickets for 38 to Milner and Fairweather. Neil Tomlinson's impressive 62 helped to see Hemingbrough to 122 for 8, but they lost by 68 runs.

Anthony Rodgers and Steve Quinn gave Heworth a good start against York with an opening stand of 49. A double bowling change brought immediate success for York as spinners S Jones and Tony Hall ran through the order.

Archie Woodhead took a couple of early wickets, but Jones and Andrew Dee raced home for York with an unbroken stand of 79.

Third-placed Burn derived maximum points at Stamford.

Richard Walker and Stuart Nesbitt both reached 42 and Ray Adamson 59 from 56 balls as the Linnet's ran up 184 for 8. Ian Smith was the pick of the Bridge attack with 5 for 42.

The Bridge innings was never allowed to settle. Thirteen-year-old Michael Raikes (40) and Smith (24) did add 43 for the seventh wicket, but three wickets each to Nigel Horsley and David Prime dismissed the home side for 111.

Brian Garnett and Simon Morgan gave Norwich Union the ideal start with an opening partnership of 124 against Bishopthorpe. The Insurers reached 202 for 8 with Derek Gardiner taking 5 for 84.

The Bishops kept in touch with the scoring rate in the early part of their innings while Danny Williams and John Short were together. But when the latter was dismissed by Keith Lawrence (5 for 60) the innings rapidly fell away.

Graham Davies and Andy Homes were the only two Ovington batsmen to offer much resistance to Stockton and Hopgrove's Derek Fryer and James Wigby. They restricted Ovington to 131 for 9 with Fryer taking 7 for 62. Jason Chinnian and Tony Kerrison reached 51 before being parted, leaving the way for Peter Fairclough to finish the game in style with a six to bring up his 50 and victory for Stockton.
