Power Boat Fees Frozen

REGISTRATION fees for power boats onWindermere have been frozen for another year by the Lake District NationalPark Authority.

Bylaws state that the owners of allpower-driven vessels must register their craft, and this week LDNPAmembers agreed that the fees to do this - which were set in 1992 - shouldremain unchanged for 2001.

David Thornton said he thought thisnot only represented excellent value for money but added that the time wasnot right to reduce the rate or to justify an increase.

Moneyraised by the registration fees can only be used in the administration ofthe scheme and the enforcement of the Windermere bylaws.

Feeswill stand as follows:

l £5 for a vessel under 7.5kw (10hp) orelectric or steam-powered boats.

l £25 for 7.5kw (10hp) to60kw (80hp) vessels.

l £40 for vessels over 60kw(80hp).

Registration renewals will be sent out inNovember.
