THE former owner of a York caravan site has been made bankrupt.

John Curtis, who ran the Naburn Lock Caravan Site for 20 years is now scheduled to attend a creditors' meeting at the official receiver's office in Silvester Street, Hull, on September 22.

Mr Curtis, of Carcosa, Selby Road, Wistow, said today: "I sold the business last September and am out of tourism altogether.

"This arose after the sale, with the Inland Revenue as the only creditor. The money is there to be paid, so there is no real insolvency at all. There are negotiations taking place and I hope the matter will be resolved before the actual meeting".

He declined to reveal how much he was in debt.
