York's 30th national antiquarian book fair has been relocated to York Racecourse this year because of the Barbican Centre redevelopments.

But the organisers say the new location has an advantage over the city leisure centre - unlimited free parking.

One of the event organisers, Peter Miller, from Ken Spelman's, said: "Although we were disappointed to lose the Barbican, we are delighted to have secured the racecourse.'

"The facilities at the racecourse are among the best in the north of England for this kind of event and we are looking forward to the fair being a major success."

The fair will be held at the Knavesmire Suite of the racecourse on Friday, September 10, between noon and 7pm and Saturday, September 11, from 10am to 5pm.

Complimentary tickets are available from www.yorkbookfair.com or the cost of tickets on the door is £2.
