YORK Cricket Club will be on the sidelines this weekend as their rivals catch up on their outstanding fixtures.

However, their watching brief will be quite intense as their rivals have some vital matches. League leaders Sheffield Collegiate are likely to extend their lead over York to nine points as they visit lowly Rotherham. However, Harrogate visit Doncaster who are gradually creeping up the table and have matches in hand on other clubs.

Victory for Doncaster will be a major blow for Harrogate who will be left clinging to the leaders by a thread. However, on Sunday, Doncaster have to visit 2003 champions Cleethorpes who could well have emerged with a good points haul from their visit to Castleford the previous day.

Like Doncaster, the Lincolnshire club has matches in hand so there is a chance for both clubs over the weekend to jump up alongside York and Collegiate.
