Simon Wiles, the city council's director of resources, states (Letters, August 11) that detailed information about payment of members allowances is released to the media, therefore is it the fault of the Evening Press that only a brief summary appeared on June 24, a summary so brief that not only I but some of my friends missed it.

If these expenses are paid from our council tax contribution a full list should be published. As the council's "employer" we should not be expected to call at the Guildhall for the information.

Some time ago a great deal of money was spent providing our councillors with either a home computer or laptop to enable them to work at home more quickly and efficiently.

If this is the case why is the council website not yet up to date?

Transferring information from one file to another should be no problem. It also should be remembered that not everyone has access to a website.

Some older people have not yet mastered the video recorder, let alone a computer.
