A PAIR of high-flying twins who could record York's highest number of A grades were today among thousands of students across North and East Yorkshire to receive their A-level results.

York College students and identical twins Madhi, pictured top, and Hadi Godazgar are studying a staggering five-and-a-half identical A-level subjects each, intend to study identical degrees at university, and have notched up an amazing 11 grade As between them.

The former Archbishop Holgate York pupils, from Crossways, in Badger Hill, study maths, further maths, physics, chemistry and biology, plus an AS-level in additional further maths.

The boys have been offered places at the University of York to study maths and physics, with the view to carrying on their studies to PhD level.

Hadi said: "We both really do love maths in particular. It is all about the challenge of solving problems for us. The harder it is the more you enjoy it, and the more of a challenge it becomes.

"Madhi and I are very close, there is no competition between us. We just support each other, and help each other to keep up our motivation."

Madhi said: "We don't usually work together but we like to help each other with problems. It's good to have someone in the house doing the same things, and to be able to talk things through."

Miggy Biller, York College maths leader, said: "Expectations are extremely high for them, and we will watch their progress with great interest."
