ADAM HINSHELWOOD watched on from the stands as York City leapfrogged Woking in the Vanarama National League table to take a huge step towards safety.

Hinshelwood was forced to watch York’s 2-0 victory over Woking, with goals from Billy Chadwick and Dipo Akinyemi, from the stands as he began to serve a match suspension, which the Football Association had made known in midweek.

The York boss began to serve a red card received whilst managing former club Worthing approximately three months ago, meaning that Hinshelwood was forced to sit in the stands in what is believed to be a one-match suspension, according to the FA website.

However, Hinshelwood lauded credit onto his staff on the touchline who helped ensure that his instructions were followed throughout the victory, and admitted that he enjoyed watching the game from a higher viewpoint.

“It’s a previous sending off at Worthing, they have somehow managed to come to a decision three months later that I miss the last two games,” Hinshelwood explained.

“I’ve had three yellow cards and a sending off so I will be sitting in the stands at Solihull, but that’s why you have good people and a good team around you.

“We put it in on Monday and it came back pretty quick, so on Wednesday or Thursday I knew that we would be up in the stands.

“I did it at Worthing anyways because it gives you an advantage on the shape and the style of play, here as well you can get messages down quite quickly and you can get a vantage point of the game.

“It’s something that I wouldn’t be against doing again going forward.

“We were mic’d up and things like that, there were a few instructions on the passing but in the main it was a good nucleus of work.

“It was the finer details, you get a clearer picture up there to deliver those messages at half-time.

“In a weird sort of way it’s a bit more relaxing, you’ve got a nice comfy chair and an arm rest on either side!

“I’m amongst the fans and you can feel at times their nervousness when we were playing amongst the back there, other than that it was all good.”

Hinshelwood also went on to explain the reasoning behind City’s two changes, with Ryan Fallowfield and Sam Fishburn being replaced by Adam Crookes and Lenell John-Lewis, making it known that he is eager to find consistency throughout the squad.

Hinshelwood stated: “The last six performances have been at a good level, it’s what we want, that consistency to our game.

“A bit of bad luck at Halifax on the day, and in our home performance here, the sending offs were a massive part of that game but in large parts it could have ended up as a similar result to today.”
