YORK City have announced the appointment of Adam Hinshelwood as the club's new first-team manager.

Hinshelwood replaces Neal Ardley as the club's new manager, signing a long-term deal after a six-year stint with Worthing FC.

The 40-year-old leads an attacking-minded style of play, racking up over 269 league goals since the beginning of the 2021/22 campaign with Worthing.

Hinshelwood has also enjoyed plenty of success with the Vanarama National League South outfit, lifting the Isthmian Premier Division title and a Sussex Senior Challenge Cup twice, with the Mackerel Men now striving for promotion into the English fifth tier.

The new City boss boasts Football League experience from his playing days, making over 100 appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion across both the Sky Bet Championship and Sky Bet League One, alongside stints with Aldershot Town and Wycombe Wanderers.

A knee injury saw Hinshelwood's playing career come to an end, before managerial roles with Selsey, Hastings United and Worthing followed.

Hinshelwood also has previous experience in the coaching set-up of now Premier League side Brighton, who his son, Jack, also features for.

Joining Hinshelwood in North Yorkshire are Gary Elphick, as assistant manager, and Cameron Morrison, as first-team coach.

Elphick joins the Minstermen from Worthing too after initially playing under the new York manager in his time with Worthing, winning promotion from the Isthmian League Division One South via the play-offs.

Morrison joins the Minstermen as a qualified coach with a UEFA A license as well as a MSc degree in Performance Analysis and BSc degree in Football Coaching & Performance.
