ADAM HINSHELWOOD is set to be named as the new manager of York City, according to Football Insider

Hinshelwood currently manages high-flying Worthing FC in the Vanarama National League South, sitting in third position on 62 points.

The 40-year-old is known for playing a very attacking style of football, with his current side scoring 269 league goals since the beginning of the 2021/22 season, but also conceding the joint seventh most amount of goals in the division.

Football Insider are reporting that talks have been held between Hinshelwood and York, with the new boss potentially being appointed before City's match with Wealdstone this coming Saturday, March 2 (3pm) at the LNER Community Stadium.

Hinshelwood would replace Neal Ardley after the Minstermen boss was sacked on Monday afternoon, after 34 matches in charge.

The current Worthing boss boasts Football League playing experience, having made 100 appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion, as well as stints with Lewes, Aldershot Town and Wycombe Wanderers before retiring in 2010 due to a serious knee injury.

Hinshelwood went onto manage at Selsey, Hastings United and Worthing, whilst also holding coaching positions with Burgess Hill Town and Brighton, where his son Jack also features in the Premier League.
