DIPO AKINYEMI and Thierry Latty-Fairweather have been recognised for their efforts in York City’s 2-0 victory over Bromley on Saturday.

A first goal in York colours for Marvin Armstrong was paired by a sensational strike from Akinyemi, netting his 12th of the season as City secured back-to-back Vanarama National League victories for the first time this season.

Adam Hinshelwood’s side have now escaped the National League relegation zone with five matches left to play, with the York manager earning his second win since taking charge in late February.

Both Akinyemi and Latty-Fairweather have been recognised in the Vanarama National League Team of the Week, with the duo playing important roles in City’s final trip to the capital of the season.

Latty-Fairweather has impressed as of late playing in an unfamiliar right-back position, whilst Akinyemi bagged his first goal in 11 matches, and his first under Hinshelwood.

The pair have now received recognition from the National League, being named in the Team of the Week.

Akinyemi has also been recognised within the Non-League Paper’s Team of the Week, as City’s only representative after defeating third-placed Bromley at Hayes Lane.

The York talisman also played a key role in City’s opener, playing the ball across goal for Armstrong’s initial shot to be saved by Lewis Thomas, before the ball was bundled over the line by the midfielder.

Akinyemi went on to seal a crucial three points with an incredible long-ranged strike, lobbing Thomas from 25-yards out on the half-volley in a potential Goal of the Season contender.
