ADAM HINSHELWOOD remains wary of Aldershot Town as York City look to boost their Vanarama National League survival hopes on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Hinshelwood’s search for a first win as York manager stretches onto his fifth match in charge, with City in desperate need of points whilst sat second-bottom of the National League table.

However, Hinshelwood remains wary against an Aldershot side with ‘real firepower’, after securing five wins from their last six matches.

“They’re a good sort of footballing side with some real firepower up top, they’ve got (Lorent) Tolaj and Josh Stokes, who has got his move, and (James) Daly as well,” Hinshelwood explained.

“They’ve got some good technical players in the forward areas of the pitch, they play an interesting, different kind of shape so it is one that we’ve got to be wary of.

“At the same time we have got to find a way at home to get the fans behind us, we’ve got to go after them as well and we can’t let them dictate the tempo of the game.

“With our tempo we can play the game at our intensity.

“Tommy (Widdrington, Aldershot manager) has done an excellent job at Aldershot, they’re flying high.

“They are a club that I know well and have got some really good players that I know well as well.

“They are a real tough, tough team to play against and we’ve got to focus on what we can do, because we’ve got to start winning games.”

Hinshelwood also hopes that his side can be as creative as they were in the second-half of Tuesday night’s 6-1 defeat to Altrincham, which pleased the City manager.

Hinshelwood explained: “On Tuesday night when we made a few changes at half-time, there were some positive bits of play.

“It got to 3-1 and there were some chances, Lenny (Lenell John-Lewis) had a chance right after half-time and there were moments that could change games. They then scored to make it four.

“I’m not trying to sit here and say that we were unlucky because we made some mistakes, not at all, but those moments in games have a big impact.

“We’ve got to play like we did in that second-half, it’s easier to come out when you’re 3-0 down and to leave everything out there.

“We’ve got to show that now for the last seven games, that feeling that the boys felt with that fearless approach, and chucking everything that we can at it.”
