ADAM Hinshelwood has made his first signing at York City, welcoming winger Leone Gravata.

The 22-year-old joins the Minstermen on a permanent deal from Vanarama National League South side Eastbourne Borough, a club at which he has spent the whole of his career thus far.

He is naturally a left winger, but can also play on the right or as an attacking midfielder, providing some attacking versatility for City boss Hinshelwood amid the battle to avoid relegation.

First joining the Sports at Under 18 level, Gravata made his debut in the curtailed 2020-21 season as a substitute during their 3-1 Emirates FA Cup win against Sheppey United.

A maiden National League South appearance followed just days later, the winger coming off the bench to feature in a 1-1 draw with Chelmsford City.

The following season, he spent a brief period on loan with Hendon, scoring once in seven games for the Southern League Premier Division South club.

Since then, he has gone on to play just over 100 games for Eastbourne, establishing himself as a fans’ favourite at Priory Lane.

Gravata made his breakthrough into the squad last season, chipping in with nine goals in 46 league appearances as Borough narrowly missed out on the play-offs.

He has scored three times in 31 appearances for Mark Beard's side so far this campaign.
