NEAL ARDLEY has confirmed that Dipo Akinyemi is a 'doubt' for York City, ahead of their clash with Oldham Athletic at the LNER Community Stadium tomorrow evening (7.45pm).

After suffering a back injury in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Dagenham & Redbridge, Akinyemi was substituted in the first-half for fellow striker Will Davies.

York boss Ardley has confirmed that Tuesday night's match with Oldham may be too soon for Akineymi, with Scott Burgess and Kai Kennedy also unlikely to be involved for the Minstermen.

"He’s (Akinyemi) going to be a doubt," Ardley confirmed.

"I was hoping that it would settle down two days later but it hasn’t, so we’re sort of unsure on whether we can put him through his paces tomorrow until he is better.

"I think that might be a long shot, but we’ll see.

"Him, Kai Kennedy and Scott Burgess are all doubts.

"Scott Burgess came off in training the other day, Kai Kennedy came in today with a really sore knee from I don’t know what, maybe running because he didn’t get onto the pitch.

"You have all of these challenges, and yes I get it, I’ve spoken to a couple of fans who want us to get at teams.

"I get it, but I haven’t got into play-off finals through not scoring goals and getting at teams, but we’re in a situation now where we have to figure out a way to pick up the points we need."

Ardley also provided an update on left-back Thierry Latty-Fairweather, who hasn't featured for City since January's 1-1 draw at Boreham Wood.

“He’s in and around it, we’ve signed Danny Amos and I can only put 16 players in a squad," Ardley explained.

"When I’m looking at the starting line-up and the subs, I’m trying to cover all of the eventualities of what can happen in a game.

"He’s back, he’s training but he’s got to keep pushing hard in training to try and be ready for an opportunity when it comes."
