LUKE GARRARD was ‘livid’ to concede so late on to York City in Boreham Wood’s 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon.

Adam Crookes’ last-ditch header earned York a point to extend their unbeaten run to seven, at the expense of a Boreham Wood side that had taken the lead through a long-ranged Chris Bush effort.

Garrard vented his frustrations after the full-time whistle and admitted that he felt it was ‘two points dropped’ for the Wood, with Garrard also annoyed that his side didn’t test George Sykes-Kenworthy enough.

“I’m livid, if I’m honest with you because we should be sitting here with two more points,” Garrard told club media.

“It’s two points dropped, it’s the 93rd minute, they get a set-piece and have three contacts inside our six-yard box.

“We don’t make one challenge. When it’s 1-0 in a game, you don’t give an opportunity to the opposition.

“I thought that we were dominant without hurting them in the first-half and had a lot of territory with a lot of the ball, we were just very pedestrian at times.

“I said to the group to have no surprises at half-time, Neal (Ardley, York manager) was going to get after them when they came out and that was evident.

“I felt that in the second-half of the second-half, we had the line and share of the game.

“We get the goal through Bushy, a mistake from their goalkeeper, but fortunate enough for us to get the goal and you think that with three minutes, especially with how additional time has been this season, that we’d go on and see it out.

“That would have been a massive three points, seven points in our last three without the skipper and Mo (Sagaf) going on international duty, but that wasn’t the case.”

Garrard was irked to concede late on and felt that his side were not clinical enough.

Boreham Wood now find themselves in 14th position with 32 points, having dropped points to Kidderminster Harriers on Boxing Day to another late goal.

“It’s not good enough, it is an achilles heel. We could have had a nice clean sheet today out of the game and a big win, that would have been.

“It’s frustration, there’s a lot of emotion at the minute because I do genuinely feel like we should be two points better off.

“There is a frustration that we’re not clinical enough, that’s not news to anyone, we had three golden opportunities through (Lee) Ndlovu and Tom Whelan.

“They put bodies on the line but we didn’t work them hard enough.

“I thought we had good territory in the first-half, good possession in the first-half but we were very pedestrian and we didn’t hurt them.

“We didn’t work their goalkeeper and obviously Bushy from long-range goes and scores.

“It’s just frustrating that we haven’t gone on to win the game.”
