YORK City's Adam Crookes has been named in the Vanarama National League Team of the Week.

The defender picked up his first minutes since October in the Minstermen's 1-1 draw with Gateshead on Boxing Day after recovering from a hamstring injury, and followed that up with a clean sheet against the Heed at the LNER Community Stadium yesterday afternoon.

Goals either side of the interval by Will Davies and Dipo Akinyemi ensured that Neal Ardley's side made a stellar start to 2024 in front of over 5,000 supporters, form they will be hoping to carry into Sunday's televised trip to Boreham Wood (2pm).

There, the Minstermen will aim to stop Lee Ndlovu, whose brace against Kidderminster Harriers on December 30 has earned him a Team of the Week inclusion.

Eastleigh's hat-trick hero Paul McCallum is also included, as is midfielder Tom Naylor, who kickstarted Chesterfield's thrilling comeback against Solihull Moors.

National League TOTW: Laurie Walker (Barnet), Adam Crookes (York City), Tony Craig (Dorking Wanderers), Mark Kitching (Oldham Athletic), Ben Krauhaus (Bromley), Tyler Frost (Aldershot Town), Tom Naylor (Chesterfield), Josh Rees (Dagenham & Redbridge), Paul McCallum (Eastleigh), Danny Ormerod (AFC Fylde), Lee Ndlovu (Boreham Wood).
