EBBSFLEET United boss Dennis Kutrieb was accepting of a point in a 1-1 draw with York City that he felt was winnable for the visitors.

Despite heading into Christmas as occupants of the Vanarama National League relegation zone, Kutrieb admitted that he was heading to York expecting no less than three points.

But the Fleet manager was happy to secure the single point after goalkeeper Mark Cousin's nodded home in stoppage-time to cancel out Lenell John-Lewis' early opener for City.

Kutrieb also commented on John-Lewis' opener and felt that it should have been ruled out, with a suspected foul by Will Smith in the build-up play.

"Before the game I would have said that I'm not happy with just a point, but after the game if you score in the 95th minute then you have to be happy with a point," Kutrieb told the Ebbsfleet media team.

"We'll take the point now and go home with the point and see if we can build on that, like we said last week.

"We had more chances than them, especially in the first-half, they had one chance and scored whereas we had two big chances with Dom Poleon and Toby Edser on the cut-back, we should have scored two goals in the first-half.

"If we came in at 1-1 or with a 2-1 lead then maybe it would have been a different game.

"I think we defended pretty well as a team other than the one situation, but there was a foul in the build-up and it should have been given as a free-kick to us.

"It is what it is, I'm delighted for the boys and delighted for the fans that we don't need to go home with empty hands."

Kutrieb was accepting of the point and discussed the tactical aspects of the fixture, with the manager speaking on City's decision to let Ebbsfleet have the majority of possession.

"You'll see the stats and I think we dominated the game. But it's not a big problem that they let us have the ball if they're one goal up, that's just how it is in football sometimes.

"If you have the one goal lead then you don't need to be so hectic, you don't need to have the ball all the time.

"Maybe it was their game plan to just give us the ball, but at the end of the day my feeling was that we dominated the game in big parts.

"If we had taken our chances in the second-half, a glorious chance was for Greg Cundle which went over and if he got that on target then it would have been a goal.

"When you score so late in the game you have to be happy, and I think the fans go home happy which is well deserved."
