YORK City have extended the loans of both Barnsley striker Aiden Marsh and Harrogate Town defender Will Smith.

Both players have seen their loans extended by a further month, with City boss Neal Ardley vocal in his wishes to retain their services.

Marsh became Ardley's first signing for the Minstermen, joining on an initial one-month loan after a strong start to the season for Barnsley's Under 23 squad in the Professional Development League.

The 20-year-old forward has enjoyed a run of games for City throughout October, being handed two starts and making four appearances off the bench.

Though refused permission to play in York's two Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round clashes with Needham Market, Marsh did feature for his parent club in a behind closed doors friendly with Manchester United.

Central defender Smith has been a timely acquisition to a Minstermen back line currently hampered by injuries.

Making his debut in City's 4-2 defeat to Barnet in late September, the 24-year-old has featured eight times across both the Vanarama National League and FA Cup.
