YORK City manager Neal Ardley faces fresh injury woes this week - and may not be able to name a full bench for Saturday's Emirates FA Cup clash.

The Minstermen welcome Southern League Premier Division Central side Needham Market to the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday (3pm), where they will aim to match last year's run to the First Round proper.

Despite plying their trade two levels below City, Needham have already shown that they can beat higher opposition, defeating the Vanarama National League North's Peterborough Sports 3-0 in their Third Qualifying Round replay.

But Ardley could be down to his last 17 fit players for the tie, owing to a mix of injuries in training and the unavailability of loan players including Aiden Marsh and Jack Stott.

"We shared in the past that we've had some injuries," he explained. "Some of them are a bit unfortunate.

"Callum Howe rolled his ankle in training on Tuesday. It was a bit unfortunate as he was only doing some fitness stuff, but he's just rolled it.

"He'll be a doubt, and we'll see how he is tomorrow.

"Callum Harriott walked in from training today with a tight hamstring. I don't think that's as unfortunate as rolling your ankle.

"I think it's down to a lot of stuff that the club and the culture and the things that we have been doing in our robust training, which we've got to change.

"We've got a lot of injuries - nine, 10, 11 injuries on the injury table at the moment. Most of them have been coming around the time when we've been Saturday, Tuesday, Tuesday, which tells you that their bodies couldn't handle it.

"They're certainly big doubts. We might not even for the first time get an 18-man squad out."

Maz Kouhyar and David Stockdale have both been sent for scans, the latter having not featured since picking up a knock against Altrincham in August.

"[Kouhyar] had his today. I think we sent Stockdale for a re-scan to see where he is.

"Ducky's [Michael Duckworth] is going to be back out and hopefully starting some work on the training field soon.

"There's positives there, but they're a lot further down the line than that."

Ardley also confirmed that highly-rated youngsters Aiden Marsh and Jack Stott would be unavailable to prevent them becoming cup-tied for parent clubs Barnsley and Middlesbrough, should they be needed later in the competition.

Defender Will Smith, signed on loan from Harrogate Town, though will be available.

"They don't want Aiden Marsh involved," he revealed.

"Jack Stott can't be involved, so we've got players who can't be involved unfortunately.

"Will Smith can."

Despite his predicament however, Ardley insists that he will not moan about the situation in which he finds himself.

"I'm not moaning, but these things have got to be put right.

"They can't be put right in a month, they can't be put right. Pre-season is normally the first point and the start in all this, but we're going to be doing it through the season, so hopefully we'll finish with a very strong, robust, fitness.
