YORK City manager Neal Ardley is happy with the impact of loanees Aiden Marsh and Will Smith, after initially joining the club on a one-month loan deal.

Ardley confirmed that York have the option to extend both the loans of Marsh and Smith from Barnsley and Harrogate Town, after initially only joining on a one-month deal.

The City boss explained what profiles Marsh and Smith had to earn the interest of York, and why he brought them to the club.

“They can be extended, it was initially a month." Ardley confirmed to the Press.

"We brought Will in for his experience, he’s been promoted from this level and I tried to sign Will at Solihull last season, I know what I’m getting from Will.

"With Aiden it’s more the potential he brings, we’ve done a lot of homework on him and needed something different from what we had.

"Aiden is that, he’s going to try and develop whilst helping us.

"They’re two different scenarios, but as I said when I first arrived, we were imbalanced at centre-back and in centre-forward.

"We’ve tried to rectify that with two players we feel can bring something."
