YORK City manager Neal Ardley is working on bringing in a new full-back to the club due to injuries.

Long-term injuries to Michael Duckworth and Levi Andoh, alongside Adam Crookes’ recently sustained knock, sees York looking extremely light in full-back.

Ardley is working to rectify this by potentially bringing in a full-back on loan, but doesn’t expect any movement until after this weekend.

The City boss also confirmed that winger Finlay Barnes is set for a move away from the club, after his loan with Darlington came to an end.

“We’re working on some potential loans out, and a couple in, there’s one loan that we’re quite keen on and like the look of but he probably just needs one more game.

“He’s coming back from a niggle at the level he’s at, we’re trying to get him in but before Saturday might be difficult.

“It’s something we’re monitoring over this weekend, we still feel like there’s a little inbalance and we might need to rectify ourselves.

“I think at the moment Crookesy is injured and out for a couple of weeks.

“We’ve got Ducky out and Levi out long-term, our full-back areas are limited to two players at the moment.

“Ryan Fallowfield, whose not been well, and Thierry who had stomach cramps in the game on Tuesday night.

“That’s probably the positions that we are weakest in in our balance, and that’s the position we may be looking at.”

York winger Barnes also looks set to depart the club, with Ardley looking to let the youngster leave on another loan deal after his Darlington loan expired.

Ardley also expressed his frustration at not having recall clauses in the loan contracts for Cedric Main and Sam Sanders, who have both had positive stints on loan at Blyth Spartans and Truro City.

“I’ve had a chat with Finlay and he’s one that may be going back out on loan.

“We felt that he needed a different challenge on his loans, he’s a young lad that needs to play and show us what he can do in games.

“We’re talking about putting him on a strengthening programme, but he’s a talented boy and we like what we see.

“We just think that at the moment with the players we’ve got, these players need to play and we don’t want him disappointed every week.

“We’ve looked at our inbalance in the squad, like Cedric Main, and have had Cedric back in training.

“I don’t have a call back on him, the loan deal was done for Cedric to go to Blyth and there’s no call back so we could do with another forward.

“Nor can I call Sam Sanders back, that was all done prior to me being here.

“We’re monitoring these players and in an ideal world we would like the option to be able to bring them back if we wanted, that’s why we’re active in the market for certain positions.”
