YORK City have completed the signing of Harrogate Town defender Will Smith on a one-month loan deal.

Manager Neal Ardley has moved quickly to bring in Smith from Sky Bet League Two side Harrogate after a suspension to Tyler Cordner and a groin injury to Adam Crookes meant that Callum Howe was the only registered centre-back ahead of tomorrow night's match with Barnet, at the LNER Community Stadium (7.45pm).

Smith began his career in the academy of Barnley, taking up a scholarship in 2015 and being awarded with the Academy Player of the Year in the 2015/16 season.

The 24-year-old then made the move to Harrogate after a brief spell with Darlington, helping the Sulphurites gain promotion to Sky Bet League Two and winning the Isuzu FA Trophy in May 2021.

Smith made the move to Scunthorpe United in February 2023 on a one-month loan and ade 13 appearances for the Iron, and has made a combined 110 senior appearances over his career.
