SAM SANDERS starred as Truro City cruised to a 3-1 victory over a struggling Havant & Waterlooville in the Vanarama National League South.

York City’s Sanders has impressed in the early stages of his season-long loan spell with Truro, with the Tigers pushing towards the play-offs by currently sitting in ninth position and being just one point adrift.

Goals from Ryan Law, Andrew Neal and Will Dean saw Truro pick up a crucial three points against Havant, despite a late consolation goal by Muhammadu Faal, with Truro’s win forcing the hosts Havant to part ways with their manager.

Sanders played the entire 90 minutes and performed admirably in the back line, with former York trialist Adam Porter in midfield.

Cedric Main has also enjoyed an impressive start to his loan at Blyth Spartans, but was unable to save his side from a Chester win.

Goals from James Caton and a last minute penalty from Elliott Whitehouse rendered JJ Hooper’s earlier equaliser a consolation, as Main started the match and played the full 90 minutes.

Finlay Barnes will be hoping to impress after performing in City training under Neal Ardley, but also suffered defeat at the weekend.

Managerless Darlington have had a poor start to the Vanarama National League North campaign and find themselves in bottom position.

Darren Foxley’s goal handed Bishop’s Stortford a 1-0 win, with Barnes also playing the full 90 minutes.

Finally, Jonny Haase continued his development at Stockton Town in their 3-1 win over Pontefract Collieries.

Haase started the match on the bench and was introduced in the 83rd minute for Elliott Beddow, and helped see out a crucial win for the hosts.
