EBBSFLEET United manager Dennis Kutrieb believes that York City ‘are a little bit in trouble’ after a thumping 4-1 defeat to his side.

An underwhelming performance from York means that City are the only side in the Vanarama National League yet to pick up a win, sitting second bottom only because of Southend United’s points deduction.

Kutrieb admitted that he wishes York the best of luck moving forward, but was determined to not allow the managerless side to spark a revival after a disastrous start to the season.

“They are a little bit in trouble, changing their manager and coming a long way down from York, so we needed to show our intensity.” Kutrieb told BBC Radio Kent.

“We needed to focus on our game today, and that’s what we’ve done brilliantly.

“I can’t ask for anything more, we would’ve liked to have a clean sheet but they have good players in their squad.

“We need to suffer at times, but at the end of the day 4-1 is a great result.

“At the end of the day it’s not always about finances, you need to have a plan and do the right things on the pitch.

“That’s what we try to do, we play against some big clubs with big history, like you could see with York today, but sometimes things aren’t going in the right way and you need to be ready.

“You need to get your advantages and make sure you’re ready for your own game, regardless of all of the other things.

“It’s a tough time for York at the moment, but we needed to be at the top of our game to make sure they didn’t turn it around here.

“I wish them the best of luck, we make sure we prepare right.”

“It was a great performance, I was very happy with them.

“I think especially in the first-half, we could have and should have scored more goals, so to go in with a 2-1 lead was not good enough from us.

“That’s what I told the boys at half-time, and it obviously worked quite well because straight after half-time we would score another goal and settle the game down.”
