TONY MCMAHON hopes that York City supporters can get behind the players on Saturday, as the Minstermen look to pick up their first victory of the season at Ebbsfleet United.

The York interim boss takes charge of his first match following the departure of former manager Michael Morton on Saturday, with City targeting their first three points of the campaign after a winless run of six matches.

McMahon admitted that there is a lot of uncertainty currently surrounding the club, and hopes it can head in the right direction, starting this weekend.

“Please come in your numbers, I really want you to get behind the lads.” McMahon urged the supporters.

“The fans have been really good since I came in in February, I think the fans really bought into what the players were doing and as a football fan you just want to look and recognise a team that is working hard, is running around and has all of the givens in football really.

“That’s the way I want to set the team up on Saturday, to give the fans something to get behind.

“Make sure they’re right behind the boys, because the lads can recognise that this is what they want to see.

“We’ll go there with a game plan, hopefully the fans come in their numbers and stick together, because at this moment in time there is all of the uncertainty.

“Nobody knows what’s going to happen, nobody knows what direction the football club is going to go in, but all my message has been to the players is to focus on these next three days.”
