A DISAPPOINTING afternoon for York City saw Michael Morton's side clinch a late draw against Aldershot Town on Saturday.

Substitute Lenell John-Lewis' late goal meant that York left Hampshire with a point for their troubles, albeit in a below-par performance.

Here's how each player fared in the draw.

David Stockdale – 7

Despite being substituted off at half-time, Stockdale made three important saves to keep City within the match. He was unlucky to concede the goal, and let’s be honest it had been coming, but still remained a presence between the sticks.

Ryan Fallowfield – 6

After the change of formation at the half-an-hour mark, it was a bit tricky to work out where Fallowfield was playing. He disappeared in the match, which is rare for him, on his first appearance of the season.

Tyler Cordner – 5

An underwhelming performance from Cordner on his return to his former club. Within four minutes, Cordner has made two errors that lead to chances for the home side, and he appeared to struggle with the atmosphere around him.

Callum Howe – 6

It’s good to have Howe and Cordner looking to establish a relationship in the backline, but it’s yet to really standout. Howe was solid again, winning his headers, but looked a little bit shaky on a few occasions.

Levi Andoh – 7

The Press’ man-of-the-match in a below-par performance, Andoh got stuck in and continue to have a bright start in City colours. He was creative going forward with some impressive crosses, was very rarely beaten in a one-on-one situation and worked hard, even in the change of formation that saw him switch positions.

Paddy McLaughlin – 6

McLaughlin worked hard again but was beaten far too many times by Josh Stokes in the Shots’ midfield, with the playmaker finding himself with too much space on multiple occasions.

Olly Dyson – 6

Last season’s Clubman of the Year looked bright at times but also disappeared at times. He tested Aldershot’s goalkeeper on a few occasions, but struggled to really carve out a chance for Dipo Akinyemi.

Quevin Castro – 6

After being substituted off at half-time, Castro had a game that probably won’t be remembered. He lost the ball on a few occasions and tried to show flair, but also appeared to be playing further up than Akinyemi at times. Still appears to be lacking fitness.

Callum Harriott – 6

A small casualty of the afternoon was Harriott picking up a slight knock which appears to not be too bad, but Harriott struggled to create an opportunity, and his crosses were often overhit or blocked by the first man.

Dipo Akinyemi – 7

After feeding off of scraps all match, Akinyemi did well to turn provider with a cleverly-worked assist so late on in the game. He has so much potential to thrive, and he’s shown it this season, but City need to give him the chances, or he’ll be isolated like he was against Aldershot.

Maziar Kouhyar – 6

Similarly to Harriott, Kouhyar’s crosses let him down today and he struggled to provide for Akinyemi.

Subs

Maison Campbell – 7

Campbell started the season as the club’s third choice and probably not expecting any first-team minutes, but he was confident and brave when coming on. He made some tough tackles and made his presence known, and his distribution was calm and collected too.

Lenell John-Lewis – 7

Getting the late equalising goal, John-Lewis worked hard and offered City another option up front to split the Aldershot defence a little. He perhaps could’ve had more too, but it was good for him to open his account.

Zanda Siziba – 6

Siziba was only involved for 20 minutes, and didn’t really get too many chances to produce anything. He unfortunately disappeared a little bit into the game.

Referee – David Richardson – 7

Richardson let the game flow and didn’t make any controversial decisions. If anything he helped City, with the amount of added time, but didn’t have too many big decision to make in the game, although a couple of yellow cards handed out were a little quick to be given, although it appears something may have been said to him by the players.
