YORK City have appointed former Brentford and FC Halifax Town scout David Bujara as the club's new Chief Scout.

Bujara announced the news on social media this afternoon, after leaving his role at Halifax in May.

After appointing David Stockdale as Head of Recruitment at the back end of May, Bujara will be working closely with the former Sheffield Wednesday shot-stopper in opposition reports and identifying talent.

Bujara began his scouting career at Ryton & Crawcrook Albion FC, who currently play their football in the Northern League division two, before moving on to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers as an academy and non-league scout.

Following his time at Wolves, Bujara went on to work in Scotland with St Mirren, before becoming an opposition scout for Sky Bet League Two side Crawley Town.

Bujara became part of the Brentford staff as a first team scout and 'B' team recruitment scout, something York owner Matt Uggla has insisted he is looking to replicate.

Bujara went on to have roles with AFC Fylde, Morpeth Town and FC Halifax Town, whilst also working within Newcastle University for the eight years and having a role in the women's game at Middlesbrough Women.

Speaking on social media, Bujara said: "Hi everyone. I am very happy to say I have taken up the role of Chief Scout at York City.

"A massive opportunity, with a huge club.

"Going to be busy, it's going to be intense, it's going to be superb.

"Thanks to everyone at the club for giving me this opportunity."

Uggla also backed up City's new chief scout, responding by saying: "Welcome aboard the promotion train."
