YORK City look set to be without defender Ryan Fallowfield for the opening three matches of the 2023/24 Vanarama National League season.

The ever-present defender has accepted a charge for a violent incident during the second half of the Minstermen's 1-1 draw with promoted Notts County at Meadow Lane on April 29.

With the incident not seen by the match officials, the charge, a breach of rule E1.1, has been given based on video evidence.

Fallowfield had been cautioned in the 84th minute of the match after a clash with County's Adam Chicksen, with it appearing as though that punishment may not have been harsh enough on review.

Upcoming month 'massive' for York Valkyrie as Leeds and Saints clashes loom

As such, Fallowfield now looks set to miss York's visit to Wealdstone on the opening weekend (August 5), as well as their home ties against both Kidderminster Harriers (August 12) and Altrincham (August 15).

New recruit Levi Andoh, who made the switch to City from Vanarama National League North outfit Hereford earlier this month, looks set to step into the role in his absence.

The right-back was an ever-present as Michael Morton's side earned a 19th-placed finish in the National League last season, scoring twice in his 37 appearances.

He was also named in the National League Team of the Week after scoring the winner in City's crucial 2-1 victory against Dorking Wanderers on March 16.
