DESPITE one of the most brutal innings from a home player ever seen at Clifton Park, York Cricket Club suffered knockout pain.

Oliver Hairs smashed an astounding undefeated 150 from just 65 deliveries in York’s 130-run hammering of Harrogate in the first group match of the Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB Premier League t20 competition.

Hairs hoisted no fewer than six sixes and a bewildering total of 20 fours to utterly dominate the Clifton Parkers’ total of 233-2 from 18 overs.

Harrogate were dispatched for 103, with Tom Pringle taking 3-26 to put York into the final.

There they were up against the Yorkshire Academy, who were 94-run conquerors of Scarborough in the second group semi-final.

But in the final, the hosts’ luck ran out.

Dismissed for 112-6, in which Ryan McKendry excelled with an undefeated 58, York were thwarted by heavy rain which prompted a bowl-out won by the Academy.
