York Press:

The Press Food & Drink Awards

These brand-new awards celebrate the exceptional talent, flavour and creativity that make York and surrounding area one of the UK’s most exciting food and drink destinations.

We are delighted to welcome Nigel Barden as host for the evening. Nigel brings a wealth of experience, passion and professionalism to the stage. He worked alongside Simon Mayo on BBC Radio 2 for over 12 years and is a long standing contributor to BBC Radio London. Known for his warm humour, expert knowledge and infectious enthusiasm for food and drink, Nigel is the perfect compère for our inaugural awards

From bustling independent cafés and artisan bakeries to award winning restaurants, dynamic street food traders and vibrant pubs and bars, York and surrounding area are home to a thriving culinary community powered by passionate people.

We want to hear from businesses of all sizes and across all sectors. This is a chance to shine a spotlight on start ups and family run businesses, food retailers, delis, bars and everything in between.

With 11 award categories plus one Outstanding Contribution Award, it’s easy to see why the awards night, taking place on Monday 5 October at the National Railway Museum, promises to be a truly memorable celebration.

Stepping away from the traditional black tie, sit down format, the evening will be a relaxed and vibrant networking experience - enjoy a drink, sample delicious nibbles and mingle among the iconic train carriages.

Closing date for nominations:
All entries must be received by 5pm Friday 3rd July 2026.
