A NUMBER of local matches have fallen victim to the weather this weekend - whilst one side went viral with their hilarious updates on their efforts to get their game on.
Tadcaster Albion, Pickering Town and Selby Town have all confirmed this morning that their Northern Counties Eastern League fixtures have been postponed, as all three teams were due to play at home today.
Tadcaster's clash with Barton Town was due to take place at the Young Guns Arena, Pickering's game versus Eccleshill United was scheduled for Mill Lane, whilst Selby were set to host Brigg Town at Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium this afternoon.
Alongside York City's match at Boreham Wood that was due to take place this afternoon, but was also postponed, the three NCEL team's have called off their matches due to frozen pitches in North Yorkshire.
However, one team made light fun of an otherwise disappointing outcome, with Selby hilariously revealing their tactic to try and get the game on.
With a single small heater placed on the pitch, and jokingly not even plugged in, Town then responded by adding a second heater by the halfway line.
The two tweet's have a combined 230,000 views, over 6,000 likes, 274 reposts and 70 comments at the time of writing.
Due to the cold weather and frozen pitch there will be a pitch inspection tomorrow morning. In the meantime our new oversoil heating is in full operation. pic.twitter.com/NBDlkDVqfx
