OLLIE Pearce and Josh Stones were two happy strikers after the pair bagged a brace each in Tuesday night's 4-1 win over promotion rivals Rochdale.

Pearce had first opened the scoring when latching onto Mark Kitching's near post cross, heading past Rochdale goalkeeper Oliver Whatmuff via the post.

Dale's Tobi Adebayo-Rowling quickly shot back to make it 1-1, which is how it would stay for the half-time break.

York, and in particular Stones, had a brilliant start to the second-half, as the striker raced onto a clearance from Malachi Fagan-Walcott, before cutting inside and lifting the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.

Just three minutes later he was celebrating again, after a cheeky nut-meg on Ethan Ebanks-Landell sent the 22-year-old into the area, to slot past Whatmuff once more.

Pearce calmed any nerves when meeting Fagan-Walcott's cut-back into the area with a neat finish into the bottom left corner, settling a 4-1 victory for City at the LNER Community Stadium.

The pair celebrated their two goals each with supporters after the full-time whistle, which can be viewed above.
