NOVEMBER is approaching with York City’s nine out on loan players continuing to earn minutes elsewhere.

After an injury at the beginning of the season saw Rory Watson not start for Scunthorpe United in their first five matches, the goalkeeper has made that number one shirt his own at the Iron since.

He’s played 10 times so far in the Enterprise National League, keeping three clean sheets in that time and conceding eight.

Those clean sheets came against Wealdstone, Truro City and Southend United, with Scunthorpe winning both, whilst Watson has only been involved in one defeat this season.

He did miss Scunthorpe’s match with York due to the obligations of his loan contract, with Leeds United loanee Rory Mahady impressing in his sole match with United.

Also on loan at Scunthorpe is Billy Chadwick, who has played in six of the Iron’s 16 league matches this season.

He’s started just once, which came at left-back in last Saturday’s 2-1 win over Aldershot Town.

His other appearances have seen the loanee play largely at central midfield, but he’s been used primarily as an impact substitute so far.

Another player in the National League is Jeff King, who has been Boreham Wood’s starting right-back so far this season.

He’s helped the Wood to a healthy fourth spot, two points off of leaders Rochdale despite it being Luke Garrard’s sides first year back in the fifth tier.

King has played 14 times so far for Boreham Wood in the National League, scoring once and assisting once, only being absent from the squad once which was forced in the match against City last week.

The 29-year-old is yet to get through a full 90 under Garrard, either being substituted on or off in every match he has been involved in.

A second full-back to be out on loan and in the National League is Cam John, who has been enjoying his football with Hartlepool United.

John has started and played every minute in the National League for Hartlepool this season, bar one, with the left-back ineligible to play against York.

The 26-year-old also has a goal to his name, netting in a 3-0 win over Neal Ardley’s Woking, whilst playing at centre-back.

Tyler Cordner is a player beginning to enjoy his football away from the club, playing for Enterprise National League South side AFC Totton.

Cordner has played in every match for Totton, who occupy third spot in the National League South, and has not yet missed a minute for the Hampshire club.

The 26-year-old centre-back also has a goal on his record, which came in a 2-1 win over Hemel Hempstead, and has even worn the captain’s armband in a defeat at Bath City.

Leone Gravata is also in the National League South playing for Horsham, nailing down a regular role with the Hornets.

He’s made 12 appearances, scoring once and assisting twice, only being uninvolved in contests with Maidenhead United and leaders Hornchurch.

Gravata has also proved to be a versatile option for Horsham, playing on either wing and even at right-back.

Darragh O’Connor is North of the border with Raith Rovers in the Scottish Championship, and after a difficult start to life, he’s begun to find his feet.

The centre-back was an unused substitute in his first seven matches at Raith, but earned an opportunity to start against Dunfermline Athletic.

Despite Raith suffering defeat, O’Connor did enough for a second start at the weekend, as Rovers defeated Partick Thistle 2-0.

Tyrese Sinclair and Paddy McLaughlin both also went out on loan last Friday, and both made their debuts on Saturday for their new clubs.

Sinclair joined Solihull Moors as he battles for game time, and played the full 90 minutes as his new team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Hartlepool United.

McLaughlin reunited with former City boss Steve Watson at Darlington, and was also involved in the full match as they beat Southport 2-0.
