YORK City have confirmed the appointment of Stuart Maynard as their new first-team manager.
It's a quick turnaround for the club after York confirmed earlier today that Adam Hinshelwood had left his post as first-team manager, with first-team coach Cam Morrison also departing the football club.
Co-owners Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla have moved swiftly to confirm the appointment of Hinshelwood's replacement, bringing Maynard to the football club.
The 44-year-old will be joined by Joao Alves as York's new assistant manager, whilst Gary Elphick, who was assistant to Hinshelwood, will remain with the club as first-team coach.
Maynard began his coaching career in 2012 as assistant manager at Enterprise National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town, working alongside Barnet manager Dean Brennan, who has just achieved promotion from the fifth tier.
The new York manager followed Brennan to both Billericay Town and Kingstonian, before landing at Wealdstone in 2019.
Maynard and Brennan together achieved promotion from the National League South, bringing Wealdstone into the fifth tier.
Brennan would go on to depart the Stones in 2021, seeing Maynard take the reigns for his first managerial job in football on an interim basis.
That role would become permanent after Maynard guided Wealdstone to safety, before achieving a highest league position with the Stones in over three decades at the National League level.
After another successful campaign with Wealdstone, Maynard made the step into the Football League to take over Sky Bet League Two side Notts County.
Maynard helped Notts County reach the League Two play-off system last season after a sixth-placed finish.
The manager was sacked by the Magpies upon the end of the campaign, having failed to achieve promotion via the play-off system.
Maynard also had a playing career in non-league, primarily representing Aylesbury United.
Co-chairs Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla commented on the club website: "We are thrilled to have Stuart with us as the new first team manager.
“He comes with a high pedigree of football knowledge and holds the same ambition as ourselves in taking this football club to the EFL.
“We know all supporters will join us in welcoming him to the club, and we cannot wait for this next chapter to begin next weekend.”
Maynard added on his arrival: “I’m very delighted to join such an ambitious club in York City.
"The direction this club has taken since Matt and Julie-Anne took over aligns with my goals to make York a successful club.
"The foundations have been built for long-term success, and I cannot wait to get started.”
