NEW Earswick Indoor Bowls Club ‘A’ enjoyed a 105-64 win over rivals Leeds ‘A’ in their Yorkshire League division one clash.

Earswick enjoyed two wins at home and one on the road as they registered a strong margin of victory.

Wayne Osguthorpe, Alan Shearer Gary Jones and Adam Trinder led G Howe’s rink 11-0 after four ends before losing the next three ends to see the lead cut back to 11-6.

They rallied strongly, though, and won eight of the next nine ends, which included a five and a four, to take a 28-8 lead and go on to win 29-14.

Dave Furness, Brian Birch, Mick Head and Paul Dawson started the stronger against P. Hills' rink, leading 15-7 after 12 ends.

But the Leeds rink pulled the score back to 15-14 with a five at the 14th end before Earswick bounced back by taking the next five ends on the way to a 28-15 win.

At Leeds, Dave Clayden, Andrew Fothergill, Kevin Liddell and Rob Domville’s rink proved to be too strong for I. Howard's rink. With a six followed by a five, they led 18-2 after seven ends and they continued to outscore their opponent on the way to a 37-10 victory.

John Harrison, Paul Murray, Dick Osguthorpe and Colin Pickup got off to a slow start, trailing A. Box’s rink 15-4.

After the halfway stage, they picked up five shots at the next two ends but only scored two more singles at the last eight ends to go down 25-11.

New Earswick 'B' lost 83-52 to Scarborough, losing both rinks on the Yorkshire coast and one at home.

New Earswick Falcons edged out North Cave White 87-82 in the Yorkshire Over-55s League.

New Earswick Ladies lost 100-42 to Selby in North Eastern Ladies League.
