NEW Earswick 'A' secured a dominant 90-69 victory over North Cave 'A' in the Yorkshire Bowls League division one.

In the home leg, New Earswick's Dave Clayden, Andrew Fothergill, Kevin Liddell and Rob Domville got off to a good start and led 14-2 after 11 ends.

North Cave closed the cap to 16-8 but the host finished in style, picking up two fives and a three for a 31-11 victory.

Similarly, John Harrison, Paul Murray, Mick Head and Colin Pickup put the home side into an early dominant 13-3 advantage.

Once again, Cave hit back, reducing the deficit to 13-8, before Earswick kicked on to finish as 23-11 winners.

At North Cave, the visiting Brian Birch, Alan Shearer, Dick Osguthorpe, and Adam Trinder fell 12-4 behind after seven ends.

New Earswick fought back to be only four shots down, at 11-15, after 13 ends.

From this point, the Cave men ran riot, winning the next six ends to send Earswick crashing to a 34-14 defeat.

Dave Furness, Bob Elliot, Gary Jones and Paul Dawson found themselves involved in a swings-and-roundabout contest of three third in the final match.

From holding a 8-1 lead after six ends, they quickly found themselves 8-11 down after 11 ends.

But the match turned on its head once again, with New Earswick picking up six pairs, while only dropping two singles, at the last 10 ends, for a 22-13 victory.

Having finished as 90-69 winners overall, New Earswick took home 12 points, with North Cave having to settle for just two.
