Overall, from the nine items, you can make a potential saving of £1,659.71
A spokesperson for Gumtree said: “With the cost of preparing for a new arrival quickly adding up, the findings highlight how much parents could potentially save by considering pre-loved items for some of their baby shopping.
“And with babies growing out of clothes and equipment so quickly, the opportunity isn’t just for buyers.
“Parents can also recoup some of their original spending by selling items they no longer need to another family.”

Tips for buying second-hand baby essentials
Ms Powell recommends parents ask for the make and model of the item, as well as its approximate age.
This information can help buyers locate manufacturer instructions and check relevant safety guidance.
She also advises inspecting items in person wherever possible.
Buyers should look for cracks, tears, broken fixings, loose screws, missing parts, or evidence of previous modifications.
Testing any folding, locking, or adjustable components is also essential.
It’s important to make sure all original components and safety-critical parts are included and that the product can be assembled and used correctly.
Buyers should request the original instructions or check if they are available from the manufacturer.
When considering an item further afield, Gumtree’s integrated AnyVan delivery tool can provide an instant estimated quote, allowing buyers to factor in delivery costs.
The company advises using its secure online payment system, Pay & Collect, where available.
This allows buyers to inspect the item before confirming collection, and payment is only released to the seller once the buyer has confirmed they are satisfied and provided a six-digit collection code.
Tips for selling second-hand baby essentials
For parents looking to sell, Ms Powell recommends including the brand, exact model, approximate age, and original purchase date if known.
Details about the item’s condition and usage should also be provided.
Clear photographs from multiple angles should be used.
These should include the product label, model number, safety markings, and any visible wear or damage.
A full list of accessories, attachments, and instructions should be included, along with details of any missing items.
Sellers should check the make and model against current recall information before listing the item.

If an item has been recalled, is damaged, or cannot be confirmed as safe, it should not be sold.
Items should be cleaned according to the manufacturer’s instructions before listing.
Ms Powell advises checking comparable listings to set a realistic price, taking into account age, condition, brand, and included accessories.
For larger items such as prams, cots, and changing tables, sellers should clearly state collection and delivery options.
