The Great British Bake Off has welcomed new judge Nigella Lawson into the famous tent.

Nigella took over from Dame Prue Leith for the 2026 series and has already become a popular hit with fans of the Channel 4 show.

Away from Bake Off, Nigella is best known for her cookery books, TV shows and her unique vocabulary.

Nigella has experienced two high-profile marriages, both marked by love and loss.

John Diamond

The broadcaster, who started her career as a journalist, met her first husband John Diamond while working at The Sunday Times, where she was deputy literature editor and he was a writer.

John was instrumental in encouraging Nigella to write about food, paving the way for her future career.

The couple married in Venice in 1992 and had two children together, Cosima and Bruno.

In 1995, John was diagnosed with throat cancer and died in 2001.

Following his death, Nigella took a brief break from work before returning to the public eye.

Charles Saatchi

Two years after John's death, she married art collector Charles Saatchi, a friend of John's since the late 1990s.

The pair wed in 2003, but their relationship ended publicly a decade later in 2013.

Photographs emerged of Charles with his hands around Nigella’s throat during an argument outside a Mayfair restaurant.

Charles later accepted a police caution for assault, but described the incident to the Evening Standard as a "playful tiff."

He admitted they had rowed but claimed the matter had been resolved by the time they arrived home.

Nigella filed for divorce shortly after the incident, and the couple were granted a divorce.

Recomeded Reading

Reflecting on her life post-divorce in a 2020 interview with The Guardian, she said: "I’m not sure I would have thought I’d be a mended person, which I am."

Since then, Ms Lawson has kept her personal life out of the spotlight, and it is believed she is currently single.
