A popular Channel 4 show that first aired 13 years ago is rumoured to be returning for another series.

Educating Yorkshire was launched in 2013 and captured the hearts of viewers with its “wholesome” stories.

Fans were particularly invested in the story of Musharaf Asghar, a Year 11 pupil who overcame a stammer with help from his English teacher, Mr Burton.

The moment went viral online with one viewer saying: "Tears every time I watch that clip. That teacher is fantastic."

When will Educating Yorkshire return?

Channel 4 announced Educating Yorkshire would be returning for a second series in 2024 that went on to air in 2025.

The second series took viewers back to Thornhill Community Academy in Dewsbury and followed the ups and downs of school life.

Mr Burton had stepped up to become the headteacher of the school and had to tackle new problems at the school like social media and exam pressures.

It has been reported the show will be coming back for another season in 2027 and is set to enter pre-production before it starts filming the new academic year in September, according to TVZone.

It has not been confirmed whether the new show will be returning to the Thornhill Community Academy.

It is believed the co-creators Grace Reynolds and David Clews will be coming back to create a “reimagined” format for the show.

While waiting for a third series to be confirmed, you can catch up or rewatch the first two series of Educating Yorkshire on Channel 4.
