THE York & District Amalgamation of Anglers’ Junior Championships will be held on Friday, June 22.

Youngsters will take to the banks of the River Ouse at New Walk from 6pm to 9pm after a draw at Blue Bridge at 5pm.

There will be another junior match, on the same section of river and at the same times, as part of York’s Festival of the Rivers on Friday, July 13.

The amalgamation will hold a committee match at Laybourne Lakes’ Marley Pool on Sunday, July 1. The match will be fished from 10am to 3pm on pegs one to 11 and 37 to 51.

Pleasure anglers will have access to pegs 14 to 36 all day and the match pegs after the match has weighed in.

Officials have reminded members that Marley Pool at Laybourne is closed to fishing on Mondays from May 7 to September 24.

On Sunday, the amalgamation stage their First Sunday Open on all the water above York except Red House and Widdington, while there is a veterans’ match at Laybourne next Wednesday.
