POLICE are hunting thieves who stole a £25,000 bridge from a yard near Selby.

The steel structure, intended to be used as part of a new shopping centre in Leeds, was taken from the holding yard near Euro Auctions in Roall Lane, Kellington, between February 17 and 18.

It is 3ft by 6in wide, weights about 10.5 tonnes and was on the back of a 40ft trailer when it was stolen.

"The pedestrian footbridge has been constructed to be used in a shopping centre currntly being built in Leeds," said Pc Steve Armitage of Selby Police.

"I am asking that if anybody saw the bridge being stolen or knows where it was taken to, they should contact me as soon as possible."
