THE coastal run on the A64 between York and Scarborough is one of the country's worst for summer traffic jams.

That's the view of motoring experts who have named it in the national top ten of heavy traffic spots.

The AA revealed the list and warned motorists not to get overheated as the end of the school term signalled the start of summer breaks.

AA Roadwatch is predicting heavy congestion and long delays on all major roads to coastal resorts in one of the busiest weekends of the year.

In the North East and Yorkshire region, the AA has also predicted heavy delays on the A1 northbound through Yorkshire.

The motoring organisation has urged people to ensure their vehicles are in tip-top condition ahead of the summer spell.
