CUSTOMERS at an East Yorkshire restaurant have helped raise £2,000 for local charities.
The owner of the Ve Raj restaurant in Shiptonthorpe, Syed Miah, is seen presenting £1,000 cheques to Nikki Denton, left, of Hearing Dogs For Deaf People and Rachel Reed, from Macmillan Cancer Support.
Mr Miah said that his reason for donating the money to Macmillan was that he had previously lost family due to cancer and so it was a cause he felt strongly about.
He also paid a visit to the nearby Hearing Dogs For Deaf People and had been fascinated by what they were doing.
Customers at Mr Miah’s Indian restaurant and local businesses had made contributions to a raffle and auction that he had run at the restaurant.
