Hundreds of council homes are set to benefit from energy efficiency upgrades.
More than 300 properties in Goole and Old Goole will receive improvements including solar panels, LED lighting, and upgraded loft insulation as part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s investment programme for 2026-27.
Once completed, more than 400 council homes in the area will be fitted with solar panels — nearly a third of the council’s housing stock in Goole.
Councillor Michael Lee, cabinet member for housing and infrastructure at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "We’re proud to invest in our council housing stock, to create warmer and more energy-efficient homes that help both tenants and the environment."
The solar panels will enable tenants to use renewable electricity generated on-site, with any surplus energy exported back to the National Grid through the Smart Export Guarantee.
The programme is expected to be completed by March 2027.
