WORK is underway at a former York city centre shop which is set to become a popular drink, coffee, and sandwich chain.
Joe & The Juice is taking one step closer to opening its doors in Parliament Street in York city centre after workers were spotted inside working on the property.
There is also scaffolding up around the outside of the building.

This follows the closure of Size? last month, which was in the site for eight years before the Local Democracy Reporting Service revealed that plans had been submitted to convert the store into a Joe & The Juice drinks, coffee and sandwich in early June.
Whilst Joe & The Juice is yet to announce when its York branch will open, they have filled a planning application which would see the building transformed into a café with seating for 65 people - 29 on the ground floor and 36 on the first.

The chain, which was founded in Copenhagen in 2002 and now has over 500 stores across the world, will offer juices, shakes, coffees, and sandwiches – wrapped in ‘iconic’ pink packaging.
Whilst applying for the property, the applicants stated the conversion would result in a cleaner, more refined interior while preserving the building's historic character.

Plans said: "By virtue of the proposed development, the external enhancements will facilitate the upgrade of the site for the operation of Joe & The Juice.
"Allowing Joe & The Juice to operate in the space will bring increased employment and opportunities for local people and continued social and economic regeneration of the city."
