The Celebrity Traitors returns with a second series and a new cast in a Scottish castle with a huge price tag.

Throughout the series, fans will see Ardross Castle in various parts of the show as it’s where the cast will discuss their thoughts and theories as they aim to catch the Traitors.

Property information site Property Buyers Today conducted a valuation of Ardross Castle, a 220-year-old estate, and revealed how much it's worth.

How much is the Traitors castle worth?

By tapping into a geocoding system, analysing Highland property data, and employing a land value estimator, the researchers calculated the total cost of the impressive estate.

It’s located north of Inverness and spans 100 acres along the scenic banks of the Alness River in the Scottish Highlands.

The total value stands at almost £17 million (£16,993,453), according to the property site.

Is Ardross Castle a listed building?

The estate’s origins date back to the late 1700s when an original Sutherland hunting lodge was built after the Duke of Sutherland’s purchase of the land.

In 1845, Sir Alexander Matheson acquired the estate for £90,000 (around £14,204,700 today).

He commissioned the construction of Ardross Castle, the estate's centrepiece, which is valued at more than £2,967,000 and covers 22,000 square feet.

This grand Scottish Baronial-style home was designated a Category A listed property in 1971.

Do The Traitors contestants stay at Ardross Castle?

While the estate seems like the ideal spot to house all the contestants, the cast of The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors never stay there overnight.

Instead, they are driven to alternative accommodation, which is located near Inverness Airport, according to the property site.

Can you visit Ardross Castle?

You can’t visit or stay at the castle, but you can hire it for a wedding if you’d like to, with up to 41 guests able to stay overnight.

Saif Derzi, founder of Property Buyers Today, said: “To put the valuation in context, the average Highland home costs around £221,000 per the Office for National Statistics, so this estate is equivalent to more than 76 average properties.

Do you know the rules of The Traitors?

“It’s also a reminder of just how remarkable this castle is: what's striking from a property perspective is that the Category A listing adds a significant premium, and with 100 acres of Highland parkland, this is one of Scotland's most substantial private estates.”
