A North Yorkshire MP has hosted a Westminster event to attract investment, regeneration and jobs to the county’s coast.
Alison Hume, MP for Scarborough and Whitby, welcomed investors and business leaders to the House of Commons reception to showcase Scarborough’s economic potential.
Organised by UKREiiF, the event highlighted regeneration projects that could create jobs and strengthen Scarborough’s economy.
Ms Hume said: "Like all of us, I'm very proud of Scarborough but I want it to be even bigger and better and that's what Scarborough Sparks is all about.
"It's about showcasing to investors from elsewhere what it's got to offer and letting everyone know it's on the cusp of an exciting future to harness investment."
The event highlighted four major investment opportunities, including town-centre regeneration and the redevelopment of the former Brunswick Shopping Centre.
Other proposals include expanding North Bay’s tourism offer, Eastfield and Scarborough Business Park.
David Skaith, mayor of York and North Yorkshire, also attended after designating Scarborough a Mayoral Development Zone.
The zone is backed by an initial £8 million investment.
