A production company is looking for a dog to feature in several scenes of a new Christmas movie to be filmed in York.

The film, starring former Doctor Who star and Blue Peter presenter Peter Purves as Father Christmas, is due to be shot in York and on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in Pickering ahead of a planned Christmas 2026 release.

Director Daniel Coll asked anyone interested in having their Beagle appear on screen to send a video clip of their dog in action to mail@picturepoint.co.uk

“Simple commands – come, sit, stay – are all that's required, along with a calm disposition,” he said.

To avoid the dog feeling concerned, the owner will be on set and nearby for the scenes, which will be spread throughout October.

“The owner will not be seen, and the successful dog will not be required to learn any lines,” joked Dan.

Dave Thorp, the film's screenwriter, added: “It's a paid role with a small fee, but it's up to the owner and the Beagle to decide how they split that between themselves!”
